This sculpture is a study of the emotion of ‘Grief’

I started Grief in October 2023 and continued working on in into January 2024. It was a difficult piece to create as I had to dig deep into places I didn’t really want to explore, so I could get in touch that feeling of the emotion and then observe how the facial features reflected this. As I was working I was very aware of the ongoing Israel / Gaza conflict which of course greatly influenced the sculpture.

This piece is being exhibited in the 60th annual show of the Society of Portrait Sculptors in the Garrison chapel Chelsea Barracks London in from 15th - 28th April
